Opioid Addiction Treatment Bill Passes US Senate

On 3/10/16, with a vote of 94-1, the Senate passed a new bill supporting opioid addiction treatment programs. The bill will now move on to the House. The bill includes measures to support education about abuse prevention, establish treatment programs as alternatives to incarceration, train first responders in the use of narcan and increase its provision to first responders, increase the number of treatment programs for prescription and heroin drug abuse, and expand drug take-back programs.
